(East Meadow, NY) — In 2016, East Meadow resident Todd Weinstein helped found a Facebook group called ‘Nice things that happen in East Meadow’ with the goal of promoting kindness, community spirit, and of course, good things that happen in the community of East Meadow.
This year, the group held its 5th Annual Back to School Supply Drive to benefit the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen in Hempstead. Members generously donated hundreds of backpacks, calculators, notebooks, and other school supplies to be distributed to students in need. Additionally, a total of $1,200 was raised to purchase needed school supplies for the INN.
On September 9, New York State Senator Kevin Thomas joined Mr. Weinstein at the Mary Brennan INN to drop off the supplies collected by the community.
Senator Kevin Thomas said, “It’s amazing what the power of kindness and community can accomplish. Thank you to Todd Weinstein and the community of East Meadow for making such a difference in the lives of our students!
