Senator Helming Presents Commendation Award to Andrew Weaver of Palmyra
March 15, 2021
Senator Pam Helming recently presented a New York State Senate Commendation Award to Eagle Scout Andrew Weaver from Troop 96 in Palmyra for his compassionate efforts to assist a fellow citizen in need.
Last summer, while working at Breen’s Market in Palmyra, Andrew noticed a man sitting outside the store, expressing suicidal thoughts. Andrew spoke with him to calm him and instructed store personnel to call for assistance. Andrew stayed with the man until help arrived.
“Andrew is an exceptional young citizen who showed great kindness and compassion in helping a fellow citizen in distress,” said Senator Helming. “He has made Troop 96, his family and our community proud.”
L-R: Diane Smith (Andrew’s grandmother), Dan Breen (Breen’s Market manager), Senator Helming, Andrew Weaver, Amber Weaver (Andrew’s mom), Adam Weaver (Andrew’s brother)
