Senator Samra Brouk urges a safe return of our students, teachers, and staff to schools
February 19, 2021
Rochester, NY - In response to new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Senator Samra Brouk urges New York State leadership to develop a plan to safely return students, teachers, and staff to in-person learning at schools in the 55th District and across the state.
“Students are missing out on many academic and extracurricular opportunities, and being away from these activities during the COVID-19 pandemic has put the social-emotional health of students at risk. I also recognize the hardships that many parents are facing, including trying to juggle work schedules with their children’s remote-learning schedules. Given the new CDC recommendations on reopening schools, I believe it is time to put plans in place for a safe return of our students, teachers, and staff, including equitable access to vaccinations for the adults who care for our children in schools,” stated Senator Brouk.
Students, educators, and other community members whose education has been impacted by COVID-19 are invited to share their experiences at an upcoming virtual town hall that Senator Brouk will host on Wednesday, March 3rd at at 5:30pm. Register at bit.ly/StudentsMentalHealthMar3
