Senator Anthony Palumbo Sworn-In in the New York State Senate Chamber

New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) today took his oath of office at the New York State Capitol where he was sworn-in by the Honorable Kathie Davidson, head of the Judicial Institute.  Senator Palumbo will continue to represent the 1^st Senate District which now, after redistricting, includes the northern portion of the Town of Brookhaven as well as the five East End Towns of East Hampton, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Southampton, and Southold.    

“I am honored that the residents of the 1^st Senate District have put their faith in me and re-elected me to be their voice and advocate in the New York State Senate,” said Senator Anthony Palumbo. “As Senator, I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to enact common sense solutions to address the state’s growing affordability crisis, high property taxes and skyrocketing crime rates.”   

Senator Palumbo was also promoted today to Deputy Floor Leader by Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt.  In his new leadership role, Senator Palumbo will continue to steer the Conference debates on the Senate floor, while having a larger platform to advocate for Long Island residents.    

“I am honored to be appointed to the position of Deputy Floor Leader by Senator Rob Ortt and look forward to utilizing this new position to be a strong advocate for Long Island, and taxpayers from across the state,” said Senator Palumbo. “Now more than ever, it is important to elevate the needs of our region and fight against policies that will place additional burdens on New Yorkers at the worst possible time.”     

In addition to his new leadership role in the Senate Republican Conference, Senator Palumbo will serve as the ranking Republican member of the Senate Codes and Judiciary Committees and as a member of the Ethics, Environmental Conservation, Investigations and Government Operations and Mental Health committees. 

Senator Anthony Palumbo was first elected to the New York State Senate in 2020. Prior to serving in the State Senate, he served seven years in the State Assembly and is a former Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney where he handled major crimes on the East End.
