Statement from Senator Anthony Palumbo on the 2023 Executive Budget
February 2, 2023
Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) today released the following statement on this year’s Executive Budget:
“At first glance, this year’s proposed Executive Budget looks to be a direct attack on Long Island businesses, local governments and taxpayers. The MTA payroll tax hike will put additional strains on the region’s struggling businesses and force area residents to pay more for goods and services during a time of historic inflation. The Governor’s budget will also lead to higher property taxes on Long Island by forcing County Governments to pay higher Medicaid costs. These tax hikes, which couldn’t come at a worse time for Long Island residents, will drive more people to flee the state.”
