Senator Palumbo Honors 2024 New York State Veterans Hall of Fame Inductee Captain Regina Gallagher Marengo

Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) proudly announced Captain Regina Gallagher Marengo as the 2024 New York State Senate Veteran Hall of Fame inductee for the 1st Senate District. Captain Regina Marengo's distinguished 25-year career with the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps, her exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to service have earned her this prestigious recognition.
A seasoned veteran, Captain Marengo recently retired from the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps after serving 25 years with the Construction Force. Her remarkable contributions include an 18-month mobilization and deployment to Iraq, where she served as the Plans Engineer for both 1 and 2 Marine Expeditionary Forces, overseeing logistics and construction coordination for Marine combat operations throughout Al Anbar Province.
In 2010, Captain Marengo commanded Naval Construction Battalion 26 and deployed to CENTCOM, leading the Seabees in constructing force protection at forward bases and performing contingency construction throughout the NATO ISAF AOR. For their exceptional efforts, NMCB 26 was awarded numerous accolades, including the 2011 Best of Type Battle E and the Army Presidential Unit Citation.
Throughout her career, Captain Marengo has held key leadership positions, including Lead Engineer in the European Command and Chief Engineer for the 7th Fleet in Korea. She currently serves as the President of Ensign Engineering, P.C., located in the Bronx, NY, showcasing her expertise and dedication to her field.
In addition to her professional achievements, Captain Marengo is an active member of VFW Post 5350 in Westhampton Beach, where she serves as the Senior Vice Commander. Her commitment to supporting fellow veterans and her community reflects the values of honor, duty, and service. Captain Marengo is married to Bill Marengo, and they have a son, William.
