Senator Serrano joined New York State Parks Commissioner Pro Tempore Randy Simons, Palisades Interstate Park Commission Executive Director Joshua Laird, and New York State Senator James Skoufis to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bear Mountain Pool. This historic site has been a great place for New Yorkers to cool off in the summer heat, originally opening in 1924 as a swimming hole along the creek. The pool’s centennial is also part of this year’s New York State Parks Centennial celebration, which has taken place all across the state. As the chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, the Senator welcomes the opportunity to celebrate these sites across the state, which offer New Yorkers the chance to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature.
