As your State Senator, I am working to reduce the cost of living and make everyday necessities more affordable.
My plan to help you keep more of your hard-earned dollars includes:
Providing $2.2 billion in direct relief to taxpayers by making the Property Tax Rebate program permanent
Providing relief from heating costs by creating a refundable heating tax credit
Increasing access to childcare by expediting processing for new childcare businesses and incentivizing
employer-sponsored/provided care options
Exempting school supplies from the 4% state sales and use tax during a one-week period preceding Labor
Day
Senator Helming voted ‘NO’ to the following proposals passed in the NYS Senate which further increase the cost of living and put jobs at risk.
$2.4B in spending to provide food, housing, and legal services for undocumented migrants
Allowing the Governor to close 5 prisons with 90 days notice
Extended Producer Responsibility Mandate which could increase the cost of groceries, cleaning products, personal care products, and more
All electric mandates including the NY HEAT Act and electric school buses
