Sen. Cleare advocates for increased funding for Seniors at the Health Budget Conference Committee Meeting

Sen. Cleare speaks at the Senate Health Budget Conference Committee
Sen. Cordell Cleare, chair of the Aging Committee, spoke up for Older New Yorkers today at the Senate Health Budget Conference Committee to discuss the allocation of Senate money to different health programs.
Elders are the fastest growing population in New York State and so Senator Cleare pushed to ensure that their health and needs are protected.
The Senate One House budget proposal allows room for funding to different programs across the State. Sen Cleare advocated that the Health Budget Congerence Committee ensure that the following allocations are included in the Senate One House.
- At least $63 Million for Unmet Needs Services (Senate add was $10 Million)
- At least $15 Million for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) (Senate add was $8.8 million)
- At least $15 Million for Guardianship Services ($1M is baseline; Senate adds $4 Million)
- At least $10 Million for NORCs (Senate adds $2 Million to $8 Million Baseline
- At least $50 Million in new, dedicated funding strictly for Senior Housing
- At least $1 million for the Managed Care Consumer Assistance Program (MCCAP) to assist individuals with Medicare enrollment.
