NYS Senator Eric Adams, Chairman of the State Senate Standing Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wagering, praises the announcement from the NYS Lottery that it will NOT implement its money-saving plan to eliminate Leaders of Tomorrow college scholarships
Senator Adams' statement: "The plan proposed by the New York State Lottery Commission to discontinue the New York State Leaders of Tomorrow college scholarships was ill-conceived, and I congratulate the Commission on its decision to rescind the cuts. These $5,000 scholarships are awarded to one senior at each high school in our state. The stipends are allocated in recognition of demonstrated leadership skills and outstanding work in extracurricular activities and community service. Although New York faces a dire fiscal emergency, and no resident will remain untouched by our economic crisis, we must not neglect our future by suspending our investment in our 'Leaders of Tomorrow'".
