Bonacic Secures Grant For Ymca
John J. Bonacic
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that he has secured $50,000 in State aid for the YMCA to enhance programs and services in Sullivan County.
"Our local YMCA’s are important community centers for children and adults alike," stated Senator Bonacic. We need to support the Y anyway we can to ensure that the maximum amount of people can take advantage of its great programs and services."
Senator Bonacic said that In November of 2007, the Middletown branch of the YMCA opened a wellness center and dance studio inside Monticello High School. An unused walkway and wood shop of the High School were transformed into the fitness center and studio. Fitness and dance classes will be offered using state-of-the-art equipment and a children’s summer camp will be offered in the near future.
Linda Cellini, YMCA’s Development Director, stated, "We are so pleased for the continued support from Senator John Bonacic. He understands the importance of developing strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, which is consistent with the YMCA’s mission."
Senator Bonacic concluded, "The people in Sullivan County deserve to have access to the programs and services that the YMCA delivers in other counties of our region. I was pleased to help secure these funds and will support the Y’s efforts to expand and enhance their services now and in the future."
