Senator Marcellino To Host Long Island Railroad Advisory Committee Meeting
Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R-Syosset) today announced that on February 17th at 7 p.m. he will be hosting a Long Island Railroad Advisory Committee meeting at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, 45 East Main Street, Oyster Bay.
"Fare increases, reduced service, station closures - these are the all too common problems we face as MTA and Long Island Railroad users. The time has come to organize as a community and discuss solutions," said Senator Marcellino. "During the Fall I sent a survey garnering support for improved scheduling and service of the Oyster Bay Line. An overwhelming interest generated the concept of an advisory committee that would meet to address the outcry for more attention to the needs of the commuter versus the needs of the MTA."
At this inaugural meeting attendees will be able to discuss their experiences and their ideas. Senator Marcellino will also announce legislation that he is sponsoring to ease the high cost of commuting. Senator Marcellino is confident that this meeting will generate a discussion that will help him serve commuters interest.
