Copiague Youth Leagues Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $10,000 in state grant funding for Copiague Youth Leagues. This grant funding will help offset the league’s operational expenses.
"Organized sports leagues, like Copiague Youth Leagues, provide our children with an outlet to develop their athletic skills and love for sports, but they also play an important role in teaching young athletes the value of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship. These skills will not only help kids on the athletic fields, but in life as well," said Senator Fuschillo. "Copiague Youth Leagues has done a wonderful job in offering these programs to local children, and I am pleased to assist them in their mission by providing this grant funding."
Copiague Youth Leagues is a nonprofit organization run solely by unsalaried volunteers. They offer programs in baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, football, cheerleading, and lacrosse. The league currently serves approximately 2,500 children each year, and has been in existence since 1958.
"On behalf of the children of Copiague, we are most appreciative of the support Senator Fuschillo has given us over the years. We look forward to continuing our relationship with him in the future," stated Mickey Kane, President of Copiague Youth Leagues.
