Seaford Community Wellness Council Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo

The Seaford Community Wellness Council recently received $20,000 in state grant funding to help finance their programs, thanks to the efforts of New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District).

"We should always encourage and support programs that teach children how to lead healthy and happy lives, how to make good decisions, and how to cope with the issues that all teenagers must face," said Senator Fuschillo. "The Seaford Community Wellness Council does a wonderful job of working with parents and teachers to help guide our kids down the right path, and this funding will enable them to continue their valuable efforts."

The Seaford Community Wellness Council was founded over 5 years ago for the purpose of creating programs and events that would help teach students to make wise choices with respect to health related issues. Based on themes which discourage substance abuse, discrimination, and peer pressure, the Seaford Community Wellness Council is committed to the development and maintenance of healthy lifestyles among the entire Seaford family.

In addition, the Seaford Community Wellness Council is involved in a number of community projects, such as "Friday Night Live", a program that provides a series of chaperoned recreation nights at the Seaford Middle School, the Safe Homes Network, the community health fair and family run, and the annual Hot Chocolate 5K Run, which serves as a fundraiser for various youth programs in Seaford.
