Senator Fuschillo Announces Suny Maritime College Tuition Assistant Scholarship

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) would like to inform residents that the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College is offering full tuition scholarships to prospective cadets. The scholarships are part of the Cadet Appointment Program, which is sponsored by the New York State Legislature.

"This program is mutually beneficial," said Senator Fuschillo. "It allows the College to deepen its talent pool with dedicated and professional cadets, and provides students with financial assistance to pursue a career filled with opportunity and excitement."

To be eligible for the Cadet Appointment Program scholarship, an applicant must:

-Be a citizen of the United States and a New York State resident for at least 1 year prior to January 15th of the year of anticipated entry into SUNY Maritime College.

-Be a high school graduate or within one year of graduation from an approved high school or have attained a New York State high school equivalency diploma or its equivalent as determined by the New York State Commissioner of Education. At time of admission, the applicant must be a first-time, first-year college student.

-Demonstrate evidence of academic excellence. Applicants must have a grade point average at or above 90% (3.5) and a combined SAT score at or above 1200 (ACT composite of 26 or above).

-Demonstrate evidence of leadership skills through extracurricular activities and school/community involvement.

-Meet the College’s general admissions requirements and participate in the Regiment of Cadets and license program.
