Senator Fuschillo To Host Child Safety Seat Checks With Eac
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), in conjunction with the Education & Assistance Corporation (EAC), will be sponsoring two child safety seat inspections in the coming weeks. The safety seat inspections will take place in Freeport and Farmingdale and will be free of charge. Appointments will be required to participate in the event.
"It’s a proven fact that car seats save lives when used properly, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that almost 80% of children are improperly restrained. When car seats are installed and used correctly they provide the maximum protection for children," said Senator Fuschillo, a member of the Senate’s Transportation Committee. "This event will allow parents to have their child’s car seat inspected by a trained professional to ensure that it is being utilized appropriately. I urge everyone with children to contact my office to set up an appointment for this important event."
The first free child safety seat check will be held on Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Paul Conte Chevrolet, located at 68 E. Sunrise Highway in Freeport.
The second will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at the Farmingdale Head Start located at 150 Lincoln Street in Farmingdale. This event will be from noon to 2 p.m.
Trained technicians will be on hand to check the condition of car seats and provide advice on how to properly install them. Additional information about car seat safety and child safety will also be available free of charge.
Appointments are required for the event and will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. To make an appointment, please call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-546-4100. To obtain information about child safety, pleasevisit Senator Fuschillo's Brochure Request page.
