Senator Fuschillo Joins Freeport Pal In Unveiling New Van
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently joined the Freeport Police Athletic League (PAL) in unveiling the league’s new twelve passenger van, which was purchased with the assistance of $15,000 in state grant funding secured by Senator Fuschillo.
"On behalf of the Freeport PAL, I thank Senator Fuschillo for his continued support and valuable assistance. His efforts allow us to provide valuable programs and activities for all the children of Freeport," stated Mike Pomerico, executive director of Freeport PAL.
PAL is a program that is organized by the Nassau County Police Department. It is designed to prevent juvenile delinquency and aid in the development of good citizenship through positive interaction of police officers and children. The Freeport PAL is one of many PAL units across the County, and has a number of sports for young boys and girls to enjoy, including basketball, flag football, baseball, boxing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, rowing, and tennis.
"The Freeport PAL offers the children of Freeport a great outlet and is a tremendous asset for the community. It is my pleasure to help them in any way I can," stated Senator Fuschillo. "Youth sports are a great way to develop good fitness habits and to learn about teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. The Freeport PAL will now have a greater ability to teach these valuable lessons to the children of Freeport."
The van will be used to transport youth travel teams in soccer, baseball, basketball and lacrosse to contests all across the region.
