Senator Fuschillo Views New American Legion Hall In Copiague

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently joined with members of Amityville American Legion Post #1015 to view their new headquarters in Copiague. Senator Fuschillo was responsible for securing $10,000 in state grant funding to help the Post offset renovation costs to the building.

"For many years, the men and women of Post #1015 have served the Amityville community with distinction, and it is important that they have a modern headquarters to use to hold meetings for their members and continue performing their numerous charitable endeavors," said Senator Fuschillo. "They now have a new home from which they can continue their community service projects for years to come."

"With this $10,000 grant, we were able to pay for new main doors at the entrance of the building and installation of new sheet rock in our main hall. This funding really went a long way in helping us refurbish our new headquarters, and we greatly appreciate the assistance Senator Fuschillo gave us," said Andrew Pfortsch, President of the Amityville American Legion Post #1015 Home Association.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, wartime veterans organization. Currently, the organization has nearly 15,000 posts worldwide, with a membership of almost 3 million men and women. Locally, Post #1015 and its membership of almost 250 has been serving the community since 1928.
