Senator Fuschillo Wins State Grant For Massapequa Public Library

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $5,000 in state grant funding for the Massapequa Public Library. The library will use the funding to enhance its programs and services for children.

"As a parent of three children, I know how important it is to encourage children to read at an early age, because it will play a vital role in their educational development," said Senator Fuschillo. "The Children’s Room of the Massapequa Library gives children a place where they can go to develop their love for reading and learning in a fun way. This grant will help the Library enhance these valuable programs."

The grant will enable the Library to fund programs that help educate and entertain children of all ages, as well as enhance its educational CD ROM collection. In addition, new furniture will be purchased for the Library’s children’s room.

"The Massapequa Library is grateful for the $5,000 grant received from Senator Fuschillo. It will be spent on services for the children of the district, such as innovative programs and educational CD ROMs," stated Library Director Patricia Page. "Many children use the library on a daily basis for educational and recreational purposes. Last year alone, our children’s programs attracted more the 7,000 youngsters."

"We are pleased that Senator Fuschillo understands the value of library services for the community, and especially for the children," Ms. Page concluded.
