Skelos Announces Funding For New $4.3 Million Valley Stream Train Station

Valley Stream was erected in 1880 on the heels of the LIRR’s inaugural service to the station in 1879. The current building, constructed during the grade elimination project of 1933, has served LIRR customers well for over 70 years. I am thrilled that this new station building will continue that tradition for generations to come.”

“This is an exciting announcement for the Village of Valley Stream,” said Assemblyman Bob Barra. “For years, this station has been an eyesore in our community. The new train station and the surrounding streetscaping will provide a welcoming atmosphere for commuters and visitors to Valley Stream. By working together at all levels of government, I’m very pleased that our new station will become a reality.”

“The Village Board of Trustees and I have lobbied long and hard for this much needed upgrade to the Valley Stream Long Island Rail Road station,” said Mayor Edward W. Cahill, Village of Valley Stream. “As he so often does, Senator Skelos has delivered in a significant way for his constituents. On behalf of the residents of the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream and tens of thousands of riders who use this station, we say thank you and look forward to the ‘new’ Valley Stream station.”
