Senator Onorato Urges Working Families To Learn About Programs That May Help Them Save Money On Taxes, Child Care, Health Insurance And Other Life Necessities

To help low- and moderate-income working families and individuals learn about various state and federal programs designed to help them make ends meet and stay healthy, State Senator George Onorato (D-Queens) is making available copies of the "2005 Helping Hands for Working Families Outreach Kit" prepared by the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy (SCAA) in Albany.

"These outreach materials are designed to help working families learn about tax credits available to them, low-cost health insurance opportunities, ways to pay for child care and other important government programs," said Senator Onorato. "Many people eligible for these programs -- including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) -- don’t know about them and are missing out on their benefits. By making this information package available, I am joining with SCAA in an effort to change that."

Among other benefits, the outreach kit provides information on: the federal, state and New York City EITC programs; low-cost health insurance programs for children, adults and families; nutrition aid; college tuition tax credits; and subsidized child care programs.
