Farley (R,C - Schenectady) and the Tribes Hill Fire Department will host a Fire Safety Expo on October 26th at the fire department located at 280 Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill. Heating expert Kevin Smitka will be on hand to discuss alternative heating methods and fire safety from an insurer's point of view. EMTs will provide blood pressure screenings. Tribes Hill Fire Department vehicles will be on display. Senator Farley's booth will raffle off a free smoke detector (including batteries) and offer color sheets and activities for children. "This event is for the whole family," Senator Farley said. Information will be available from Montgomery County Public Health and brochures from Fulmont Community Action will be available on HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) and weatherization programs. Since Halloween is also in October, there will be information and tips on Halloween safety. Catholic Charities will be in attendance to discuss Halloween safety and to provide information on their Trunk or Treat festivities, which will be held the following day (October. 27th) in Amsterdam.
"Anyone interested in giving demonstrations, having a display table or participating in the Fire Safety Expo may call my Amsterdam District Office," Senator Farley said. "We are looking for experts on topics such as fire safety, chimney cleaning, and wood stove and pellet stove use."
