Senator Farley Suggests Visiting State Museum When Remembering 9/11 And To Help Katrina Victims In Honor Of 9/11

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) informs constituents that the New York State Museum in Albany continues to display an exhibit that honors the heroes and remembers those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Congress has designated September 11th of each year as "Patriot Day."

"We will never forget how the tragedy of the terrorist attacks on September 11th changed our lives," Senator Farley said. "This exhibit helps us to remember that day, to remember the friends and loved ones we lost, to reflect on the heroic service of volunteers and emergency service personnel, and to remember that we must be ever vigilant to protect ourselves against anything like this ever happening again. I encourage my constituents to take the time to visit this thoughtful exhibit."

Called "The World Trade Center: Rescue Recovery Response," the exhibit highlights the rescue efforts after the attacks and the public outpouring of compassion and support. The exhibit includes objects, images, and video and computer stations. The museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located on Madison Avenue in Albany, at the southern end of the Empire State Plaza. "I also encourage people to fly their American flags at half-staff on Sunday, Sept. 11th, and observe a moment of silence in honor of the 3,000 people who died that day," Senator Farley said.

Senator Farley also said a good way to honor the World Trade Center victims is by helping the current survivors of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

"While the people of the South were ravaged by a hurricane and New York City was attacked by terrorists, the end result is the same -- lives uprooted and devastated," Senator Farley said. "People across the nation sent donations to New York when the terrorists struck the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The outpouring of generosity was overwhelming. We can return the favor of helping our fellow Americans. While we continue to keep the thousands affected in our thoughts and prayers, the best way for us to help is by making donations to the organizations who already have relief efforts underway."
