Senator Farley's Office To Child Id Fingerprint At Back-to-school Fair
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) will be providing free identification booklets and a child fingerprinting service at the Back-to-School Child Fair on Saturday, Aug. 20th, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Church, 27 Teller St., Amsterdam.
"This festival will be a great time for the whole family," Senator Farley said. "The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, Big Brothers - Big Sisters, Amsterdam Free Library and many more organizations will be participating. There will be story time with Judge Felix Catena reading to children. Games will be played, and low-cost school supplies will be available as well as nutritional information."
The Senator added that anyone who has a child in his or her care should take a few minutes to fill out the child ID kit -- including a current photograph and a lock of hair for a possible DNA sample. "There is also a spot on the form for fingerprints," Senator Farley said. "As a free service, I am offering the booklets and free fingerprinting."
Senator Farley said Montgomery County Sheriff Mike Amato is providing him with free fingerprinting stamps and wipes to clean the youngsters' fingers once the process is done.
"Hopefully, no one will ever need to use this booklet, but having the information readily available will go a long way in ensuring a child's safe return in the event that something does happen," the Senator added.
