Local War Heroes Receive High Military Honors
Senator Jim Alesi (R,C - Perinton) and Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks today hosted a special ceremony to present seven local war veterans with military awards sanctioned by the State of New York. Awards presented included the Medal for Merit, the Conspicuous Service Star and the Conspicuous Service Cross.
"I am honored to present these awards to the brave veterans who selflessly fought for our freedom," said Senator Alesi. "This is a tribute to the men and women who have put their own lives on the line to stand in defense of our American way of life. Their courage and sacrifices constitute the foundation of our freedom, and we will forever owe them a debt of gratitude."
"It is always a privilege to honor our veterans and pay tribute to their heroic actions," said County Executive Maggie Brooks. "I am pleased to join with Senator Alesi for such an important day in our community. This award ceremony is a meaningful and honorable way to thank those who defended our country and protected our liberty and freedoms."
Honored at this morning's ceremony were: Frank K. Betsinger and William M. Forbes of East Rochester; Thomas G. Bryant of Hilton; Stephen D. Frederico, Ken Latragna and Samuel A. Pallone of Irondequoit; and Francis P. Pittinaro of Perinton.
