Senator Alesi Secures State Aid For Affordable Housing Program At The YWCA

Senator Jim Alesi (R,C - Perinton) today announced $50,000 in funding to assist the YWCA of Greater Rochester in providing services for emergency and transitional housing for low-income women in Monroe County.

"The YWCA provides an invaluable service to women and children in our community who are facing multiple challenges while trying to remain self-sufficient." said Senator Alesi.

"We need to give families in crisis the support to grow and succeed. This grant will enable the YWCA to continually maintain the critical support services for the residents of two permanent affordable housing projects, Vermont Manor and Kathlyn Gardens."

In the past, Senator Alesi has also secured funding and been supportive of the Working Wardrobe project run by the YWCA. This program provides professional clothing and accessories to low-income women who are interviewing for and starting new jobs. The Working Wardrobe project is part of their larger Employment Services program, which offers a continuum of services both before and during employment, including preparation for employment, career counseling, job placement, retention and coaching.
