Bonacic Secures Aid For Fire And Ems Services

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope), today announced that funding has been secured for seventeen local fire departments and emergency services organizations in Ulster County.

"Our volunteer fire and EMS services are the crucial providers in times of crisis. We ought to be doing all we can to provide them with needed equipment and support," Senator Bonacic said.

Each department or EMS service will receive $10,000. In addition, those Departments with multiple Fire Companies will receive $10,000 per Company. The funds will be used to purchase equipment.

Ulster County Legislator Sue Cummings, who is also Ulster County Liaison for Senator Bonacic said, "I have been honored to work closely with Senator Bonacic in support of so many things which are important to the needs of Ulster County. Together, we have worked to save and expand the Ellenville hospital, provide training space for our local firefighters in Napanoch, secure funds for downtown revitalization in Ellenville, and increase the supply of senior housing. We must do all we can to support our volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel and this funding will help accomplish that goal."

Those Departments receiving funding are, Accord Fire Department, Cottekill Fire Department, Cragsmoor Fire Department, Ellenville Fire Department, Ellenville First Aid & Rescue, High Falls Fire Department, Hurley Fire Department, Kerhonkson Fire Department, Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad, Kripplebush Fire Department, Lomontville Fire District, Marbletown Fire Department, Marbletown First Aid Squad, Napanoch Fire Department, Stone Ridge Fire Department, Vly-Atwood Fire Department, West Hurley Fire Department.

Ulster County Legislator Gerald DePew said, "Four years ago, the world stopped and honored our firefighters and emergency services providers for their heroic efforts of 9/11. As time passes, we cannot forget that these individuals continue to perform their services. Each day somewhere in Ulster County, a firefighter or EMS worker leaves their dinner table, job, child's birthday party, and puts on equipment and takes action to save the lives and property of others, often total strangers. I will continue to work closely with Senator Bonacic to support our volunteers."
