Bonacic: Senate Honors Eugene Raponi With Achievers' Award

John J. Bonacic

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) today honored Eugene Raponi at a special ceremony in Albany. Eugene received the New York State Senate Achievers’ Award. This prestigious award recognizes Eugene’s ability to overcome personal physical challenges and honors their accomplishments on behalf of his community.

"The Achievers Award is an honor that recognizes the triumph of people over daunting challenges and is bestowed on those whose efforts serve as an example of courage, personal excellence and achievement for our entire community," stated Senator Bonacic.

Senator Bonacic continued, "I am especially pleased to honor Eugene as he is an inspiration to all. Although Gene is a quadriplegic, his involvement in the community is second to none. He is a Forestburgh Town Councilman, a Board Member of Action for Independence, is a past Executive Board Member of the United Way and currently is positioned on the Budget and Allocation Committee. He is also a member of the Monticello Elks Lodge and an honorary member of the Forestburgh Fire Company."

Mr. Raponi was honored today at the State Capitol in Albany. The Achievers’ Awards are presented each year in conjunction with Senate Disability Awareness Day, an annual event sponsored by the Senate to raise public awareness of the accomplishments of citizens with disabilities.
