Bonacic: Village Of Deposit To Receive Technical Assistance Grant
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that the Village of Deposit has been selected to receive a $25,000 grant to help create strategic plans for important local development projects. The funding was awarded by the Governor’s Office of Small Cities.
"It is important for the State to support municipalities with resources for planning and strategic development," stated Senator Bonacic. "The support is vital to help communities create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, and improve the overall quality of life of residents."
Technical Assistance grant funding was provided to New York through a federal grant. The grant program’s objectives are to assist communities in identifying steps to achieve specific development goals, focusing on research, analysis and overall community development, and provide resources to develop a strategic plan that provides a blueprint for the future of the community. The strategic plan developed by the Village can address pressing community needs, used to determine local economic conditions, potential development opportunities, and preferences about future community characteristics.
The Village of Deposit will create a Downtown/Main Street Plan to determine needs and strategies to address infrastructure and streetscape, business retention, growth and recruitment strategies, as well as develop an organization plan.
"I am pleased to announce this funding. The importance of proper planning cannot be overstated as the vitality and well-being of our communities and residents depend on it," concluded Senator Bonacic.
