Buildings Department Stops All Work Effective Immediately On Kimball Street Property
Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that the New York City Department of Buildings has responded to his request to review the building plans of the property located at 2232 Kimball Street and has ordered that all work be stopped and all permits revoked effective today.
In response to the concerns of the Kimball Street residents that this property was being overbuilt, Senator Golden convened an on-site meeting with Brooklyn Buildings Commissioner Susan Hinkson. Commissioner Hinkson ordered that an audit of the property be performed and numerous objections were found to exist, most notably the FAR (Floor Area Ratio), was exceeded.
A letter was sent to the applicant and the owner requesting that these objections be addressed with the Commissioner within 10-days. The letter was sent on June 28, 2005 and the applicant and owner failed to respond. Effective July 14, 2005, all permits have been revoked and all work ordered stopped.
"I commend the New York City Department of Buildings and Commissioner Susan Hinkson for insuring that at this location, Buildings Department regulations will be adhered to and that out of scale development is not permitted. This attempt highlights the continued efforts of developers to destroy the quality of life within our communities that we, the residents and the neighbors, have worked so hard to preserve and enhance. We must remain vigilant to insure compliance, to maintain our quality of life, and to make sure that developers do not bulldoze through our community," said Senator Marty Golden.
