D.o.t. Completes Extensive Community Roadway Repairs At Request Of Senator Golden

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that the New York City Department of Transportation has made extensive roadway repairs throughout the communities of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst, following Senator Golden’s community wide pothole survey.

Senator Golden had encouraged local residents to report to his office the presence of potholes, street cave-ins, and streets which required paving early last fall. Senator Golden submitted the concerns received to Brooklyn Transportation Commissioner Lori Ardito. Commissioner Ardito has informed Senator Golden that the street defects were corrected between December 14, 2004 and January 6, 2005.

The repair of various defects throughout the community include:

1) 79th Street from Shore Road to Third Avenue, repair of potholes

2) 80th Street at 13th Avenue, repair of a cave-in

3) 17th Avenue and 66th Street, repair of cave-in and pothole

4) 17th Avenue between 63rd Street and 64th Street, repair of pothole

5) 93rd Street between Ridge Boulevard and Third Avenue, repair of potholes

6) 94th Street between Narrows Avenue and Shore Road, repair of potholes

7) 74th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue, repair of potholes

8) Sixth Avenue between 81st Street and 82nd Street, repair of potholes

9) 82nd Street between Seventh and Tenth Avenues, repair of potholes

10) Sixth Avenue between 82nd Street and 83rd Street, repair of potholes

11) In front of 20 and 52 Oliver Street, repair of potholes

12) 93rd Street between Narrows Avenue and Ridge Boulevard, repair of potholes

13) 94th Street between Third Avenue and Ridge Boulevard, repair of potholes

14) In front of 9221 Shore Road, repair of potholes

15) Seventh Avenue between 73rd Street and 77th Street, repaved

Senator Marty Golden stated, "I commend the Department of Transportation for their strong interest in insuring that the streets of our community are safe and maintained to the best possible standards. It is working with the community that I was able to bring to the attention of DOT officials the need for repair. Together, we have made the streets safer for all pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and I encourage all residents to contact my office if they see conditions which are hazardous on our streets."
