Golden Obtains Transportation Safety Enhancements For Gerritsen Avenue

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that through his efforts, the Department of Transportation has made numerous safety enhancements along Gerritsen Avenue which will benefit all residents and all traffic, both pedestrian and vehicular, thus improving the quality of life and the safety of the entire community.

Senator Golden is highlighting the planned installation of additional street lighting along Gerritsen Avenue to be completed by February 2006. Additional street lighting will be installed on Gerritsen Avenue between Seba Avenue and Lois Avenue, on Gerritsen Avenue between Lois Avenue and water, and Lois Avenue at the Gerritsen Avenue bus stop.

Further, new street lights will be installed on Gerritsen Avenue between Bartlett Place and Cyrus Avenue, on Gerritsen Avenue outside the Gerritsen Beach Library, at Gerritsen Avenue between Everett Avenue and Florence Avenue, at Gerritsen Avenue between Everett Avenue and Devon Avenue, and Gerritsen Avenue between Channel Avenue and Devon Avenue.

Senator Marty Golden maintains the safety of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic as a top priority and has worked with the Department of Transportation to replace all missing STOP and ONE-WAY signs.

State Senator Marty Golden stated, "Important and necessary improvements has been made to insure the safety of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic on Gerritsen Avenue. Following this progress, we are now informed that additional street lighting has been approved for this busy avenue, and the progress continues. Each improvement makes the traveling of automobiles, buses and pedestrians, safer for all."
