Senator Golden And American Italian Cancer Foundation To Host Free Mammogram Screenings For Women Of The Community

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) is announcing his plans to host free mammography screening in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation this September. The mobile mammography van will be outside of Senator Golden’s District Office, located at 7403-5th Avenue, on Thursday, September 15, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and outside his District Office, at 3610 Quentin Road, on Friday, September 16, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"I commend the American Italian Cancer Foundation for working with me for our fourth year in bringing this service, free of charge, to the women of this community," said Senator Golden, "I am proud to take part in this service which brings awareness to the issue of breast cancer and that allows women the opportunity to get tested. As is the case with prostate cancer, it is important that in order to overcome breast cancer, the detection must be made early."

Senator Marty Golden continued, "It is important to help provide for access to affordable health care and testing for our community. This free mammography unit is an example of my committment to ensuring this access is granted. The mammography screenings are free of charge. The objective of the American-Italian Cancer Foundation's (AICF) Free Mobile Mammography Program is to break down the barriers to breast cancer screening that result in many under served women losing their lives to breast cancer due to advanced disease at diagnosis. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives.
