Senator Nozzolio Announces $16,800 Grant For Cayuga County
Albany – Continuing his efforts to help revitalize our communities, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that Cayuga County has been awarded a $16,800 Technical Assistance (TA) grant through Governor George Pataki’s Office for Small Cities (GOSC) Community Development Program.
The TA funding is provided to eligible communities for strategic plans aimed at specific community development goals and objectives.
“It is critically important that we continue to make investments in our communities,” Senator Nozzolio said. “I applaud Governor Pataki for his support of our local communities and am pleased that Cayuga County was awarded this necessary funding.”
Cayuga County will receive $16,800 for the Weedsport/Brutus Strategic Plan that will enable the county to extend its NYS Route 31 corridor planning initiative in Mentz, Port Byron and areas eastward. The plan will identify and enhance economic growth, historic preservation and inter-municipal cooperation opportunities between Weedsport, Brutus, Mentz and Port Byron.
The GOSC provides funding to eligible towns, villages and cities with a population under 50,000 people, and counties with a population of less than 200,000 people, for various housing, economic development, public facilities and mixed-use projects that improve the overall quality of life for residents of the communities.
