Senator Nozzolio Announces $17,200 Grant For Town Of Varick
Albany – Continuing his efforts to help revitalize our communities, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that the Town of Varick in Seneca County has been awarded a $17,200 Technical Assistance (TA) grant through Governor George Pataki’s Office for Small Cities (GOSC) Community Development Program.
The TA funding is provided to eligible communities for strategic plans aimed at specific community development goals and objectives.
“It is critically important that we continue to make investments in our communities,” Senator Nozzolio said. “This Small Cities grant will help Varick make improvements on its business district and enhance economic development in the Town. I applaud Governor Pataki for his support of our local communities and am pleased that Varick was awarded this necessary funding,” Senator Nozzolio concluded.
The Town of Varick will receive $17,200 to produce a strategic plan that will address housing, water and sewer infrastructure needs in the hamlets of Varick and Fayette.
The GOSC provides funding to eligible towns, villages and cities with a population under 50,000 people, and counties with a population of less than 200,000 people, for various housing, economic development, public facilities and mixed-use projects that improve the overall quality of life for residents of the communities.
