Senator Nozzolio Announces Home Energy Assistance Program Is Now Available
Albany—State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) announced today that applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) can be downloaded by visiting the senate updates portion of the website.
“The high cost of energy is having a major impact on our economy, hurting the bottom lines of small businesses, pinching the pocketbooks of families and threatening the ability of seniors to keep warm this winter,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Seniors living on fixed incomes should not be faced with decisions between staying warm or meeting life’s other necessities.”
The HEAP Program officially begins today for the 2005-06 heating season. The program is federally funded and provides assistance to individuals who have high heating bills and are income eligible. People facing fuel outages or utility disconnections might be able to get additional assistance through the emergency component program. HEAP can also provide furnace repairs and replacements.
The maximum monthly income for HEAP eligibility this year is $1,803.00 for a one person household, $2,358.00 for a two-person household and $2,913.00 for a three-person household.
