Albany – Calling it a great day for Victor’s children and families, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) announced that he has secured a $1 million State grant for the new Victor Community Center on the Victor Central School campus. The announcement of the multi-use, multi-generational Community Center was made at the Victor Education Center on campus.

“This is a great day for all of the children and families in Victor,” Senator Nozzolio said. “I couldn’t be more pleased to be able to secure this funding for the Victor Community Center. This facility will serve every resident of Victor and will be a great place for after-school activities, sporting events, meetings and much, much more.”

The Victor Community Center will be built off of Lane Road on the Victor Central School campus and will accommodate physical education classes, athletic team practices, and practices of the Marching Blue Devils. The Center will be open to all residents of the Town of Victor for fitness and other classes run through the Victor Central School Community Education Department. The planned facility will also be used by the Town of Victor’s Parks and Recreation Department for classes and events.

Timothy J. McElheran, Victor Central School District Superintendent said “On the behalf of all Victor students, I would like to sincerely thank Senator Nozzolio for his commitment to the construction of the Victor Recreation and Wellness Center. His funding of $1 million for the project and his continued support to the Victor Central School District is greatly appreciated by all of us.”

Jack Richter, Victor Town Supervisor said “This grant is another great example of Senator Nozzolio’s commitment to the residents of the Town of Victor. The Victor Community Center will be a tremendous asset to the community and I know I speak for the entire Town Board in acknowledging Senator Nozzolio’s efforts to secure such a substantial grant to allow this project to move forward.”

The Community Center will be composed of a recreation center, a gymnasium and a field house. The recreation center will be 16,200 square feet and will include a fitness center, locker rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a senior citizen lounge, and pre-school rooms. The gymnasium will be 14,600 square feet and will feature a full-size basketball court and a suspended jogging tract. The 44,800 square foot field house will have a playing area of 80 yards by 50 yards.

“This center will be used for many different and unique purposes and will help attract visitors to our community who will shop in our local stores and eat in our local restaurants, enhancing our economic development efforts and creating jobs,” Senator Nozzolio concluded.
