Senator Saland Secures $100,000 For Mill Street Loft
Senator Steve Saland (R,C Poughkeepsie) has secured $100,000 for Mill Street Loft. The funding originates from the Community Capital Assistance Program (CCAP). Senator Saland announced the funding last evening at Mill Street Loft’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.
The funding will be used to help secure the purchase of the building in the Maplewood complex, the purchase of lots on Pershing Avenue, construct a parking lot on Pershing Avenue and provide repairs to the building. Mill Street Loft has been at this location for the last twelve years.
Mill Street Loft’s programs include arts programming for low income senior citizens, people with disabilities, and disadvantaged youth. Mill Street Loft’s Art Institute offers local high school students a pre-college portfolio development program for those pursuing a career in visual arts.
"I am very happy to be able to assist Mill Street Loft in the purchase of these facilities," said Senator Saland. "Mill Street Loft has helped countless disadvantaged children through their arts programming. I am pleased that their important work will continue in the City of Poughkeepsie for many years to come."
"All of us at Mill Street Loft are so very pleased and appreciative about the CCAP funding that Senator Saland has secured for our capital campaign," said Carole J. Wolf, Executive Director, Mill Street Loft. "Our purpose is: to change lives through the arts and this support will certainly help us move forward on that mission."
