Senator Morahan Invites Nominees For '2005' New York State Achievers' Awards

Senator Tom Morahan, who Chairs the NYS Senate Select Committee on the Disabled, today invited neighborhood organizations, the business community, local agencies, as well as individuals, to nominate friends, coworkers, and neighborhood leaders for the 2005 NYS Senate Achievers’ Award, which honors people with disabilities who have overcome physical or mental challenges and contributed to improving their communities.

The 25th Annual Senate Disabilities Awareness Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24. 2005, at the State Legislative Office Building in Albany, and will include an awards ceremony, a special luncheon for awards recipients, and a Technology Fair.

Candidates for this award should live in the 38th Senatorial District, which includes all of Rockland County and a part of Orange County. Nominations for the 2005 NYS Achievers’ Award should:

Include relevant information as to why the nominee should be selected for the award; Describe the nature of the disability;
Explain how the nominee has been able to overcome the disability, contributing to improve their community.

Deadline for submitting nominations is Thursday, March 24, 2005.
