Senator Morahan Welcomes Home Army Reserve Veterans After Serving For 13 Months In Iraq
At a ceremony held at the Palisade Center Mall in West Nyack, Senator Morahan participated in a Welcome Home Ceremony for Bravo Company, 854th Engineer Battalion.The unitserved in Camp Doha Kuwait from 2004 to February 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They provided a range of engineering services, including construction of the theatre entry and exit point at Camp Doha. They also played a major role in obtaining, fabricating, and installing the ‘up armor’ on vehicles moving into Iraq proper, work that no doubt saved countless lives.
The unit has a history dating back to World War II. It served with distinction in the Eastern Mandates, the Western Pacific and Ryukyus Campaigns.Brigadier General Snyder, commanding general of the 411th Engineer Brigade was the reviewing officer. Senator Tom Morahan, former Chairman of the NYS Veterans and Homeland Security Committee, who represents Rockland County-- presented each returning member of Bravo Company with the NYS Medal of Liberty Award.
