Senator Secures Funding For Mental Health Eating Disorder Seminar

New York State Senator Thomas P. Morahan (R-C, New City) secured a State grant to fund aseries of educational seminars on eating disorders. The first of these forums, is entitled, "Building Clinical Capacity: Assessment and Review of Eating Disorders Research," isdesigned to assistmental health professionals.

The Senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities will be a keynote speaker at the program, which is being organized by the the Mental Health Association of Rockland County, Inc., a non-profit organization, which serves Rockland County residents by promoting mental health activities and providing services to people with mental illnesses and addictions.

Other organizations participating in the forum include Rockland BOCES, Rockland County Department of Mental Health, Dominican College and Rockland 21C. Scores of mental health professionals are expected to participate in the program.

The seminarfeatures faculty from The New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital presenting on such topics as: an overview of eating disorders, adolescent nutrition, prevention strategies, needs assessment and case presentations.
