Pratt Students Of Interior Design Exhibit Work In Albany

Albany, New York (April 11, 2005): Miniature replicas of interior spaces that are both practical and futuristic, with some designed especially for children, were displayed by Pratt Institute students of Interior Design during the recent New York Eleven exhibition attended by State Senator Velmanette Montgomery (D-Brooklyn) in Albany.

Pratt Institute, which is located in Montgomery’s Senate District, is part of the New York Eleven, a collaboration of eleven prestigious educational institutions in the State offering four-year programs in interior design.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my ‘hands-on’ learning experience," the Brooklyn lawmaker said, noting that the Pratt student designers live in the Fort Greene section of her Senate District. "They discussed the purpose and function of the exhibits and the work that went into designing them.

The Senator’s constituents, Olya Volkova-Bolton and Carolina del Rio, who are respectively from Russia and Spain showcased interior space designed for a technology trade show. The other model depicted interactive space intended for a children’s room in a museum or library. The design of the children’s room is themed after the popular children’s book, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
