Senator Dale M. Volker Passes Legislation Designating Portions Of Route 219 The Erie County Veterans Memorial Highway & Arthur Benson Memorial Highway

(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today passed legislation (S.5319 and S.5320), which would designate certain portions of U.S. Route 219 the "Arthur Benson Memorial Highway" and the "Erie County Memorial Highway."

"We owe so much to our professional men and women in our nation’s Armed Forces and for those who served our country with great distinction and honor," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "I believe strongly that this busy section of highway will appropriately recognize the commitment, service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans and ensure that their actions in protecting our way of life and will never be forgotten. It is my great honor to pass this legislation in the State Senate and look forward to its enactment into law."

Under Senator Volker’s legislation:

All portions of the state highway system constituting U.S. Route 219, in Erie County from the interchange at N.Y. Route 391 in the Town of Hamburg, New York to the U.S. Route 219 Expressway terminus at NY Route 39 in the Town of Concord, New York shall be designated and known as the "Arthur Benson Memorial Highway".

All portions of the state highway system constituting U.S. Route 219, in Erie County from the interchange with Interstate Route 90 (The Thomas E. Dewey Thruway) in the Town of West Seneca, New York to the N.Y. Route 391 interchange in the Town of Hamburg, New York shall be designated and known as the "Erie County Veterans Memorial Highway."

Senate Bill 5319 was sponsored in the State Assembly by Assemblyman Jack Quinn. Senate Bill 5320 was sponsored in the State Assembly by Mark Schroeder.
