Senator Dale M. Volker Secures $70,000 For The Town Of Wethersfield
(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today announced that he has secured two state grants totaling $70,000 for the Town of Wethersfield within the adopted 2005-2006 New York State Budget. A $50,000 state grant will assist the town with the construction of a new salt barn, and a $20,000 state grant will assist the town with the establishment of a town park and a little league baseball diamond.
"Supervisor Copeland, Chairman Berwanger of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors and I have had several discussions as to the need for a salt barn for the town, as well as the town’s request to establish a town park and a little league baseball diamond. We all agree that these projects deserve state funding and I am honored to have been able to secure these state grants," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "Our children should have the opportunity to play organized sports on safe conditions, and Wethersfield’s residents should have a town park in order to enjoy their natural surroundings. Additionally, the need for a salt barn is a today’s necessity. The salt used for roads during inclement weather is essential to improve driving conditions and must not left outside during snow and rain. Building a salt barn will protect the salt from the elements, ensure environmental concerns are addressed, and save taxpayer dollars by lessening the need to replace salt.."
John Copeland, Supervisor of the Town of Wethersfield said, "Senator Volker has been very open to our proposals for a salt barn and for the establishment of a town park and little league diamond. He firmly understood the benefits of these initiatives and he fought aggressively to secure these state funds within the state budget. I appreciate Senator Volker’s hard work and the enormous impact these projects will have for the residents of Wethersfield and Wyoming County."
"Wyoming County continues to work in a seamless manner with Senator Volker and our Mayors and Supervisors to address quality of life issues that really make a difference," said Douglas Berwanger, Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors. "The $70,000 in state funds secured by Senator Volker for the creation of a salt barn, town park and little league diamond in the Town of Wethersfield will have a positive lasting impact for decades."
