Senator Marcellino Tapped To Lead Budget Subcommitee
State Senator Carl L. Marcellino (R, Syosset) has been appointed by Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno to lead the Environmental/Housing/Agriculture subcommittee as final budget negotiations take place. The Subcommittee with make recommendations to the General Budget Conference Committee on how to spend approximately $45 million dollars.
"As we work with the Governor and the Assembly to craft a responsible State Budget that balances the needs of all New Yorkers with environmental protection and tax relief, I am looking forward to leading this subcommittee," said Senator Marcellino.
The State Budget is due April 1st. Over the next two weeks Senator Marcellino will meet with members of the Senate and Assembly in order to reach a final agreement for the State Budget in the areas of environment, housing, and agriculture. The subcommittee consists of five senators as well as five assemblymen.
"I look forward to the challenge of dealing with new issue areas such as housing and agriculture. While I find working to protect the Empire State’s natural resources very enriching, these new issue areas are a prime opportunity to learn about other aspects of the budget critical to New Yorkers. By working together, we can craft a final budget which helps all the residents of our great State," concluded Senator Marcellino.
