Alfred Village Hall Grant Announced

Catharine Young

State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C - Olean) today announced a $50,000 state grant for restoration of the Village Hall in Alfred.

The grant assists with the expenses associated with the purchase and installation of an elevator and metal exit stairs for the Village Hall.

"I was pleased to obtain the necessary funding for the ongoing restoration project," said Senator Young. "Ensuring safety and accessibility for Alfred residents is essential for the Village to provide important services for their citizens, and I’m proud to play a part in it. This multi- phase project has been the collaborative effort of many volunteers, Alfred State College students and architectural professionals. This grant for the creation of a handicap elevator and metal exit stair will make the Village Hall all the more accessible for those in the community."

"The Village of Alfred truly appreciates the support that Senator Young has given to the Village Hall Restoration project," said Craig Clark, Mayor of Alfred. "The funds that we have received through her help will assure that is important restoration project will be enjoyed by all the Village and area residents in the near future."

"I was thrilled to receive notice from Senator Young's office about receiving the Community Capital Assistance Grant, said Anne Acton, Director of the Alfred Twenty-First Century Group. "This grant represents a significant part of the cost to construct the handicap access to the second floor Village Hall Theater. Without the grant our ability to proceed with this project would have been greatly impaired."
