Fuschillo, Mcdonough, And Mckevitt Discuss State Issues And Community Revitalization With Merrick Chamber Of Commerce

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently served as the guest speaker at the Merrick Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting.

Senator Fuschillo was joined by Assemblyman David McDonough (19th Assembly District) and Assemblyman Thomas McKevitt (17th Assembly District) in discussing a variety of state issues with local merchants, such as the state’s new cap on gasoline sales tax and elimination of the state sales tax on clothing and footwear.

The three legislators also informed the members of the Chamber about upcoming revitalization projects in the Merrick and North Merrick business districts. These projects include improvements along the west side of Merrick Avenue between Smith Street and Loines Avenue, and further north between Old Mill Road and Orchard Street.

Afterwards, business owners had the opportunity to ask questions of Senator Fuschillo and Assemblymen McDonough and McKevitt.

"Small businesses play a vital role in our communities, and it is important to work with the local merchants to improve and revitalize Merrick and North Merrick," said Senator Fuschillo, a member of the Senate’s Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business Committee. "This is a wonderful opportunity to speak with local business owners and hear their thoughts on how to make the Merricks a better place to live and work."
