Levy-lakeside Kindergarten Class Welcomes Senator Fuschillo To "community Read-aloud"

Levy-Lakeside kindergarten students in Ms. LaMarca’s class recently welcomed Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) to their classroom as part of the school’s annual "Community Read-Aloud".

Senator Fuschillo read House Mouse, Senate Mouse by Peter and Cheryl Barnes to the class. The story allowed the children to learn, in a fun way, about how a bill becomes a law and what Senator Fuschillo’s job is as a New York State Senator.

After the story was finished, the students offered Senator Fuschillo their ideas for new laws in New York State.

"Having members of the community read to the students helps reinforce the message that reading is an important skill for both adults and children," said Senator Fuschillo. "I really enjoyed reading to the class and watching how much fun they had listening the story."
