Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), Assemblyman David McDonough (19th Assembly District), and Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg (19th Legislative District) have announced a new downtown revitalization project along Merrick Road between Babylon Turnpike and Central Parkway.

Senator Fuschillo secured $300,000 in state grant funding to finance the project.

"Homeowners and local businesses will definitely benefit from this project," said Senator Fuschillo, a member of the Senate’s Commerce, Economic Development, and Small Business Committee. "By revitalizing and improving this area, we will continue to beautify our community for the residents and attract more visitors to our town, which will help our local small business owners."

"Downtown revitalization projects are a most important way to help enhance our community and help our local small businesses grow and prosper," said Assemblyman McDonough.

As part of the revitalization project, new sidewalks, brick pavers, curbing and decorative lighting will be installed along Merrick Road between Babylon Turnpike and Central Parkway.

According to the Nassau County Department of Public Works, the project will be entering the design phase by the end of this year. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin by the middle of 2007.
