Senator Dale M. Volker Announces Kathleen Balus As New York State Senate Women Of Distinction Award Winner Of The 59th S.d.

Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced that Kathleen Balus has been awarded the 2003 New York State Senate Women of Distinction Award for the 59th Senate District for their contributions to enriching their communities. Kathleen Balus resides in the Town of Sardinia, Erie County and is the President and Founder of Pioneer Credit Recovery. This company now is part of the SLM Corporation.

"The Woman of Distinction program was created in 1998 as part of our state's celebration of Women’s History Month to honor exemplary women from across New York State whose singular professional or personal achievements, commitment to excellence and accomplishments merit special recognition," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "Kathy Balus is a remarkable story patience, perseverance, and overcoming the odds. Kathy’s interest really lies in serving the community in which she lives. She previously served on the Town Board and is now the Supervisor of the Town of Sardinia. Her commitment for philanthropic endeavors is well-established and she currently serves on numerous charitable boards, including Suburban Adult Foundation, Community Action for Wyoming County, Angel Action, and Home Care and Hospice." Said Senator Volker.

Among the numerous awards and recognitions that have been extended to Kathy are the Working Woman Magazine Entrepreneurial Excellences Awards, the US Small Business Administration’s NYS Small Business Person of the Year award and the ATHENA Award for the highest level of professional excellence. Recently, she was recipient of the MDA’s Humanitarian of the Year and the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award. Among her many roles, the most important one has been being the mother of 2 sons, Marshall and Cameron and 1 daughter, Kassia.
